Subject: Follow up – Redlands Campus Safety Advisory
In an effort to provide ongoing updates and information following the Safety Advisory sent early this morning (see below), we wanted to inform you that the Los Angeles Police Department has analyzed and categorized the note found at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as being inconsistent with a credible threat and has recorded the incident as such. Notwithstanding that determination, the University continues to keep the safety of our community as the greatest factor in our decisions surrounding these types of circumstances. In addition to implementing the measures mentioned in the safety advisory below, President Newkirk has been in regular communication with the presidents at the other three schools mentioned. Public Safety has also been in contact with the campus safety teams at each of the other schools, all of which have employed similar safety measures as ours. We are maintaining additional patrols of campus with supplemented Public Safety personnel, keeping exterior doors locked today, providing support to students and staff through escorted assistance as requested, and maintaining frequent communications with local authorities. Public Safety continues to remain in direct radio contact with the Redlands Police Department who have agreed to provide enhanced patrol in and around the University for the next few days.
Campus is open and services are operating normally with continued additional surveillance. Classes will resume Monday morning.
Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community members. If we learn anything new from local law authorities, we will communicate via another Bulldog Be Safe memo.
Please contact Public Safety at 909-748-8888 or ext. 8888 with any questions.

Subject: Redlands Campus Safety Advisory
Public Safety would like to advise the community of a developing situation that we are monitoring. We have just been informed that last evening (Saturday, Nov. 26), law enforcement on patrol at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum were provided with a note found in the facility that referred to a “shooting at school Sunday 27th 6:00 a.m.” Four universities in the greater Los Angeles Area were written on the note, including “Redlands.”
While the University of Redlands does not have enough information at this time to assess if this is a criminal threat or if it is credible, we take all such matters seriously.
In an abundance of caution, we want you to be aware of the situation, and we want to inform you of the steps we are taking in response:
All members of the University community should take reasonable precautions to ensure their greatest level of safety both on and off campus. If you see something suspicious, report it:
Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community members. Please contact Public Safety at 909-748-8888 or ext. 8888 with any questions.
