Sustainable University of Redlands Farm (S.U.R.F.)

Hannah Jugar, B.S. Environmental Science, Spatial Studies Minor 2023

The Sustainable University of Redlands Farm (S.U.R.F.) is an essential piece to the University's efforts toward local growing practices and introducing students to the outdoors.  This on-campus garden, located behind the Brockton Avenue Apartments, decreases the University's carbon footprint through reduced transportation processes and actively practices climate-adaptive growing methods. Students have the opportunity to grow desired crops in a personal lifted plot, observe visiting pollinators, plant California Native vegetation,  and complete their community engagement credit.
